Directions

4 miles north of Steamboat Springs on Routt County Road #36 (Strawberry Park Road), then 8 miles east on Routt County Road #38 (Buffalo Pass Road).

Attractions and considerations

There are 15 campsites total (five are walk-in sites with provided parking). These sites each have a table and fireplace grate, and vault toilets. The overnight camping fee is $10.00 per site. A Day Use fee of $5.00 is required to park in the two developed parking lots provided for use while picnicking or fishing.

Fishing is available on Summit Lake, however, only hand powered watercraft are permitted.

This area offers a variety of recreational opportunities with a trailhead into the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness to the north.

Note: No bikes are allowed in the wilderness.

To the south of this campground is the trailhead for trail #1101 (Wyoming Trail) which is open to mechanized and motorized travel south to the junction of trail #1134.
