Directions
Located 22 miles southeast of Steamboat Springs, CO on US HWY 40 (Rabbit Ears Pass). From Steamboat Springs take HWY 40 east 17.3 miles to campground sign (NFSR 315 paved) Turn left at sign onto NFSR 315 and then travel 1.2 miles to another campground sign. Turn left into campground.
Attractions & Considerations
The campground has 22 campsites with tables and fireplace grates, a water system (seasonal), vault toilets, dumpsters and is open from approximately June 15 to October 1.
Pull-through trailer/RV spaces (up to 40 feet) are also available. The camping fee is $12.00 per night.
Dumont Lake Campground is accessible to the physically challenged.
Narrative
The area borders on the Continental Divide and sits on top of the Park Range, offering spectacular views of several Colorado mountain ranges. Dumont Lake is restricted to electric motors or hand propelled boats only. The area offers fly fishing in both the lake and streams, access to hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking on the many nearby dirt roads and trails. Bird watchers, wildflower enthusiasts and budding astronomers will find this place a paradise.
