Wheels LLC is a bicycle service and sales shop started in 1996 by owner/operator Chris Johns. Wheels set out to be the finest shop, specializing in repairs and service of all types of bicycles. The first shop was set inside a barn/garage on river road down the street from the hockey rink. Within 2 years we moved to Sundance Plaza, sharing space with Fred Garrison at Use It Again Sports. We had mucho success at that location working year round. In 2003 our location was being redeveloped. We found a monster garage to continue being Routt County's best repair shop. Wheels changed to Wheels LLC and moved to 2052 Snowbowl Plaza, behind the bowling alley and in front of 4 Star Repair and Fox Contruction. From here we we're able to set up a more permanent shop to service all types of bicycles. By then we had built a reputation as the place to go for all repairs, especially the more technical suspension and disc brake tuning and service. This naturally led to service of motorcycle suspension tuning and service. People love the feel of Wheels because we're laid back and our focus is still on repairs and service. We now offer many lines of new bicycles from kids to road, mountain, cross, 29er, single speed, cruiser, tandem and even unicycles. Our featured line is Yeti Cycles, out of Golden, Colorado. We also offer Felt, Brodie, Gt, Schwinn, Surly, Salsa, and Ericksen. Starting in 07/08 we offer a full service shop including all accessories. Shop for helmets, shoes, clothing, and all parts and components for 2wheels and there riders. We've grown slowly in our 12 years in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We support many local charities, local racing and other events, such as SSWSC, Town Challenge bikes races and even Little League Baseball. Christopher N. Johns is the proud owner and operator of Wheels. In the 23 years living in the Boat Chris has experienced many things. Chris landed at Colorado Mountain College straight from Foxborough, Massachusetts and then skied and coached for the SSWSC. Next was competing for the World Mogul Team and racing bikes for Schwinn, speeding down moguls in winter, then competing in cross country, dual slalom, downhill and trials in the summer months. Wheels now sponsors the annual Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival as we put on the Dual slalom bike race down the face of Howelsen Hill every February. The staff loves to listen to Blues, Rock N' Roll, Alternative and Raggae music. We love many sports and activities at Wheels. We play Hockey, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Motocross, Skiing, Snowboarding, Fishing and of course all types of Cycling. Wheels is a different kind of shop, more of a shop than a store.
