Location, Location, Location - Did we say Location?
The Rabbit Ears Motel enjoys one of the area's most desirable and centralized locations. Directly across the street is the town's most popular hot springs facility, Old Town Hot Springs, open daily to the general public. The Hot Springs facility recently underwent a 5 million dollar improvement including the edition of a hot tube slide. (Discount passes available for Rabbit Ears Motel guests).
Within easy walking distance is Steamboat's downtown shopping, dining and business district and vibrant Howelsen Park - featuring rodeo grounds, the alpine slide (in the summer), tennis and volleyball courts, ball fields, ice rink and celebrated ski jumping complex.
Steamboat Springs FREE public transportation system makes regular stops at the Rabbit Ears Motel to transport guests to and from the Mt. Werner Ski Area and surrounding locations.
A Family Affair
Unlike many larger lodging complexes, the Rabbit Ears Motel is still an intimate family-run business. Owned and operated by the Koehler family since 1969, management philosophy stresses personal attention and service. Through the years the Koehlers have expanded their facility and amenities to meet the demands of this growing resort community.
"We offer our guests a quality, year-round lodging experience," says Greg Koehler. "At the Rabbit Ears Motel, we guarantee maximum privacy, modern comfort and friendly, family-style service."
The Rabbit Ears Motel has been a popular landmark since 1952. Its original, highly visible sign with the playful pink ears is one of the most photographed subjects in Northwest Colorado. The unofficial gateway to downtown Steamboat Springs, this popular landmark has also beckoned thousands of travelers and fun-loving vacationers through the years. Like the legendary Yampa River in its backyard, the Rabbit Ears Motel has earned a proud and permanent place in Steamboat history.

When you visit Steamboat you can rent a multimillion dollar lodge, or you can save a few bucks and stay at this groovy little motel. Not only does it have the coolest neon sign, it is an affordable option for lodging right downtown. The third street bus stop is right outside, so getting to the mountain is easy as pie. The Old Town Hot Springs is right across the street, go for a soak after a hard day on the slopes.
I always recommend this motel, hotel that is located in downtown steamboat to my friends and family. I love the location, close to lots of activities, shopping and restaurants. Right on the core river trail, across form the hot springs and minutes from Howelsen Hill area and the Steamboat Ski Area. Nice family owned hotel with clean rooms at affordable prices.
