Matthew Grasse Backcountry Provisions
When I go out fishing or a long hike in this beautiful valley, I often stop by this great sandwich shop. These are the best sandwiches in Steamboat. They are made with the freshest ingredients; bread, meat and cheese. The expedition is exceptional and add a side of potato salad.
tmanzanares Backcountry Provisions
Backcountry is the place to go when you have a hankering for a hearty sandwich with good quality meats and cheeses. I usually get the Expedition - roast beef (I get turkey), cheese, avocado, tomato and chipolte mayo - on a baguette, but I also like the Sherpa (eggplant, roasted red peppers, asiago cheese and garlic mayo). The Pilgrim - turkey, cheese, stuffing and cranberry chutney - is also a favorite. Choose from one of their specialty sandwiches or build your own. Staff are always friendly and upbeat. There is seating in the store, but we prefer to order ahead and pick up to avoid waiting or crowds.

At Backcountry, they always know your name. I'm a big fan of the 14er with potato salad as a side.
