There’s more than one way to take advantage of Steamboat Springs’ rolling terrain -- and it doesn’t just involve skis and snowboards.

With undulating trails and roads wending over hill and dale — and a family-friendly bike path paralleling the scenic Yampa River — Steamboat Springs is evolving into a world-class mountain and road biking destination for everyone from novices to pro-caliber racers. The Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. is investing in a series of new downhill trails, the Rotary Club and Routt County Riders are adding new trails on Emerald Mountain, and the event schedule is as packed as bearings in a wheel well, with the 50-mile Steamboat Stinger, USA Pro Cycling Challenge, 110-mile Tour de Steamboat, Steamboat Springs Stage Race and official Lance Armstrong Foundation fundraiser Ride4Yellow.
